12 Convicted For 7/11 Train Blasts

2006 Mumbai bomb blasts verdict has announced today.Twelve of 13 men accused of planting bombs on Mumbai’s local trains have been convicted in the case.

Mumbai court announced the verdict today and they will be sentenced on Monday.The blasts took place on 11 July 2006 and it killed 189 people and injured more than 800 people.

Th explosion took place in the areas of Matunga, Khar, Mahim, Jogeshwari, Borivali and Mira Roa.The bombs were packed into seven pressure cookers and put in bags.13 people, allegedly members of banned organization the Students Islamic Movement of India or SIMI, were arrested on various charges.In the trial that lasted for eight years, the prosecution examined 192 witnesses.

Kamal Ahamed Ansari (37), Tanvir Ahmed Ansari (37), Mohd Faisal Shaikh (36), Ehtesham Siddiqui (30), Mohammad Majid Shafi (32), Shaikh Alam Shaikh (41), Mohd Sajid Ansari (34), Muzzammil Shaikh (27), Soheil Mehmood Shaikh (43), Zamir Ahmad Shaikh (36), Naveed Hussain Khan (30) and Asif Khan (38) were convicted for these blasts.
