Arun Jaitley’s maiden budget has impressed Telangana but left Andhra Pradesh sulking.The thrust on innovation and infrastructure development made Telangana Inc give a thumbs up to the budget.
Although AP got more than T, Jaitley’s pronouncements left AP inc sulking as they felt the budget deficient state deserved more clarity on special category status, tax holidays and allocation of funds for the Polavaram project.
AP bagged an agricultural university, AIIMS, IIT, National Academy for Customs & Excise at Hindupur, promise of development of 20 new industrial clusters along the Vizag-Chennai corridor and hardware cluster in Kakinada region while Telangana got just a horticulture university and new Debt Recovery Tribunal at Hyderabad.
Jaitley only made a passing mention of his government’s commitment to address issues relating to development of AP and T in the AP Reorganization Act, 2014.
