Current Reserve Bank of India Governor Raghuram Rajan’s tenure as Governor is going to end on 4th September 2016.Hence Union Finance Ministry has officially appointed Urjit Patel an Economist & Banker as the next RBI Governor.
Urjit Patel will be swearing in as RBI Governor on 5th September 2016.Presently Urjit is rendering his services as RBI Deputy Governor.
Urjit Patel’s tenure as RBI Governor will last for three years, Urjit is 52 years old used to take care of International Monetary Fund (IMF) between 1990 to 1995 and played an important role in re-engineering of RBI’s monetary policy structure.Urjit holds a Doctorate from famous Yale University is a close confidante to present Governor Raghuram Rajan.
