Telangana Chief Minister KCR is soon going to represent Andhra Pradesh state.Yes.The CM of newly formed state has been appointed as the Southern zonal vice chairman by the central government.

It is truly a prestigious offer for any south Indian chief minister.

The Southern Zonal Council comprises of the States of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry.The Union Home Minister is the Chairman of each of these Councils.

The south zonal council participates in the negotiations with the central over various issues of south Indian states.

With this post KCR got chance to participate in various summits and meetings in order to develop the south Indian states.

KCR will hold the office up to 1 year as a vice chairman and stay close to the central home minister Rajnath Sigh.Earlier the prestigious post was handled by Karunanidhi and Roshaiah

The idea of creation of Zonal Councils was proposed by the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru in 1956.

The main objectives of setting up of Zonal Councils are (a) Brining out national integration; (b) Arresting the growth of acute State consciousness, regionalism, linguism and particularistic tendencies; (c) Enabling the Centre and the States to co-operate and exchange ideas and experiences;

(d) Establishing a climate of co-operation amongst the States for successful speedy execution of development projects.

Although, Chandra Babu Naidu is close to Centre and he is part of NDA government, Taking everyone by surprise, KCR bagged the prestigious post.
