It is definitely happy news for the unemployed.The Government of Andhra Pradesh has increased upper age limit for government employment from 36 to 40 years.

The Government of Andhra Pradesh issued a GO today in this regard.The GO issued by Chief Secretary I.Y.R.Krishna Rao said accordingly the above ad hoc rule was prescribed in Rule 12 of the AP State and subordinate services rules,1996.‘’As the direct recruitment is being conducted after some gap, the need for enhancing the upper age limit from 34 years to 40 years is necessitated due to inevitability of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, and the consequent fall out, shrinking opportunities to the educated unemployed youth in the state,” state Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao said in the order The decision to enhance the upper age limit by six years was taken in view of shrinking of employment opportunities to educated youth in the State after bifurcation.

According to the GO, the AP Government is keen to fill vacant posts under various categories in the State of Andhra Pradesh.The concession in the upper age limit would, however, be not applicable for direct recruitment into uniformed services like police, excise, fire, prisons and forest departments that have set physical standards.
