Urban development minister M Venkaiah Naidu has decided to adopt a cyclone-affected village in Andhra Pradesh.The minister on Thursday announced that he and his family members will adopt Chepalupada village and undertake rebuilding work.
“My family members will adopt the village and would spend money for its reconstruction.Rs 25 lakh assistance is offered to the village from his MPLAD funds.I will work with the Centre to get maximum financial assistance for the cyclone-hit areas’’Said Naidu
Its known that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who visited cyclone-battered Visakhapatnam Oct 14, had announced Rs.1,000 crore as interim assistance to the state.
Other side restoration works still going at Vizag and It’s a dark Diwali for people in north coastal Andhra .The festival of lights is devoid of any celebrations in Visakhapatnam, Vijayanagaram and Srikakulam districts as people are still reeling under the impact of ‘Hudhud’.
The devastation caused by the cyclone overshadowed Diwali as the celebrations will be confined to lighting of ‘deepams’ or lamps and ‘puja’.
