Here is the rare honor for Telugu cinema.Two of Telugu films were nominated for Oscar entry in preliminary stage.
The Telugu Film Producers Council has recommended Manam and Minugurulu for FFI (Film Federation of India) for the Oscar official entry.More than 30 films across India came in front of Film Federation of India for screening.
The Film Federation of India (FFI) will start watching 30 nominations it has received from different languages to select India’s entry in the Best Foreign language film award category for Oscars for 2015.Manam is directed by Vikram Kumar.
It stars Nageswara Rao, Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya along with Shriya Saran and Samantha.While Minugurulu is based on social problem film written and directed by Ayodhya Kumar Krishnamsetty.
Priyankar Chopra starrer Mary Kom and Rajnikanth’s Kochadaiyaan are also among the films considered as India’s entry for the Oscars.Other films are National Award winning Bengali movie Jatishwar, Marathi film Fundree, Hindi films Shahid, Mardaani and Filmistan.
Manam story was inspired by Back to the future, Australian movie and it has directed by Vikram Kumar.We wonder if a movie taken after drawing inspiration from another movie will be selected as India’s entry to Oscars and Minugurulu stands a good chance than Manam! In any case it will be good news to Telugu audience!
