Finally the replacement has found for Tamilnadu CM post.As expected Finance Minister and Jaya’s close-aid O Panneerselvam has been chosen to replace Jayalalithaa as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
According to reports Jayalalithaa who was on banglore jail had handed over a sealed cover containing the name of the new chief minister to the advisor to the government Sheela Balakrishnan.The legislature party meeting of AIADMK took place at 3 pm on Sunday and Finance Minister Pannerselvam is elected as the new chief minister of Tamil Nadu.
This is second time forPaneerselvam to elect as CM.He has also worked the chief minister once in 2001 when Jayalalithaa had to quit as the chief minister due to a case.He was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in September 2001 when then Chief Minister Jayalalithaa was barred from holding office by the Supreme Court of India.In March 2002, he resigned as Chief Minister and J.Jayalalithaa was sworn in after the Supreme Court overturned her conviction and she won a by-election from Andipatti assembly constituency.
Panneerselvam, who had been camping in Bangalore since Saturday when Jayalalithaa travelled there for the verdict in the disproportionate asset case, returned to the city Sunday to take up the new responsibility as per her direction.
AIADMK MLAs have met Governor Rosaiah and informed that they elected Panneerselvam as the leader of legislature party leader.Governor Rosaiah administered the oath of office and secrecy to Panneerselvam on Monday.
