Of late media is using letter T as abbreviation for Telangana.Many of the leading newspapers often used ‘T’ to describe Telangana during the agitation.
Some of the headlines read ‘T is on boil’, ‘Storm in T’, T becomes reality.However the use of T word to describe Telangana was objected by KCR government.
Telangana government has urged the media not to use ‘T’ as abbreviation for the state and advised it to use either the complete word Telangana or T.S.Telangana Chief secretary Rajiv Sharma has objected to the use of ‘T’ and he wrote open letter to all media house to restrain from that.“While appreciating your sincere cooperation to the state government in the task of rebuilding Telangana, may I also bring it to your kind notice that this new State is often quoted in the media with an abbreviated prefix ‘T’, such as T-Govt., T-State, T-CM etc,” Sharma said in a letter sent to Editors.“You may kindly recall that the new vehicle numbering scheme also bears ‘TS’ as the abbreviation for Telangana State,” he said.“In fact the new state is formally mentioned as ‘State of Telangana’ or ‘Telangana State’ in the AP Reorganization Act.I would be grateful on behalf of the State Government, if you could please follow the same practice and mention the state as ‘Telangana State or ‘TS’ whenever the abbreviated form is used in your esteemed publication,” he further said.So folks, from now we will use Telangana or TS to represent the new born state.
