Michael Clarke has announced that he will retire from the Australian one-day international team after the World Cup final and said he will focus on test cricket.The Australian skipper made the announcement today at a press conference.

Clarke has suggested he only reached a final decision to leave “about 48 hours ago”, when he returned from the semi-final win over India in Sydney.Clarke is the fourth most prolific run scorer for Australia in the one-day game.

Clarke has played 244 one-day internationals, scoring 7,907 runs with a highest score of 130.Vice-captain Steve Smith is likely to take over the captaincy full-time from Clarke.
