Natasimham Nandamuri Balakrishna achieved rare feat in Tollywood.The senior actor has completed 40 years in the Telugu Film industry today.
The actor debuted in Tatamma Kala directed by his father NTR and it released on 29th July 1974.The actor was seen playing a grandson to Dr Bhanumathi in the movie.
The actor in him evolved with time and fans fondly called him Balayya.Over a period of time, he acted in several films and many of them were directed by NTR.Among them his cameo roles in Dana Veera Soora Karna, Srimadvirataparvam, Akbar Saleem Anarkali and Sri Tirupati Venkateswara Kalyanam stand out.
Balakrishna always had a penchant for Mythological roles just like his father and his performance as ‘Siddappa’ in Shrimat Virat Veerabrahmendra Swami Charitra was critically acclaimed.He rose to commercial prominence with hits like Apoorva Sahodarulu, Muvva Gopaludu, Nari Nari Naduma Murari and Lorry Driver.
It was only In 1984, that Balakrishna debuted as a full-fledged hero with Sahasame Jeevitham.
However, the movies in 80s wherein Balayya played a village guy role made him a star hero.In 1987, he acted in a dual role in the film Apurva Sahodarudu directed by K Raghavendra Rao was a box-office success.
That year he had six super hit films in a row.His association with versatile director Singeetham Srinivasa Rao began with the only Time Travel Telugu film ever made- Aditya 369 that released in 1991.The film featured Balakrishna as the main hero as well as the role of Emperor Sri Krishnadevaraya which earned great name for him.
In fact, a sequel to the film is also currently in the cards.Their association continued with another popular film Bhairava Dweepam which dealt with socio fantasy and folklore themes.This film was a huge hit again and is termed as an important milestone in his career.
In the 90s, he emerged as demi god of masses with Samarasimha Reddy where he acted as a powerful factionist leader from Rayalaseema.It created a new wave of Telugu Cinema which featured the realistic issues of Rayalaseema region of AP.The film turned as trendsetter and encouraged all heroes to follow the path.
Balayya is very much obedient to directors and It is even said that he takes special care in various aspects of movie filming and he is a true director’s actor.
Balakrishna has had a great year this time with success not only as an actor but also in his new avatar as a politician.He got Legendary hit with Legend movie.
The unique and matured appearance and great histrionics added much to the character of ‘Legend’ he portrayed in this film.
Balakrishna has been elected as the MLA in this elections from Hindupur.
He is a happy man with things getting in place in perfect timing now.Now he is determined to dedicate himself to the service of his constituency as a responsible MLA after fulfilling all his prior movie commitments.
Balakrishna so far acted in 97 films and his 97th movie Legend was a biggest hit career.The actor is presently starring in 98th film tentatively titled ‘Godse’ being directed by debutant Satya Deva.There have been numerous speculations about Balakrishna’s 100th project, who is going to direct the movie? What kind of subject will Balakrishna prefer?
