Aurangabad: Crackdown and penalties for un-vaxxed starting Nov 25

Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Nov 23, : Authorities in Aurangabad, the tourism capital of Maharashtra have warned of harsh penalties for all autorickshaw drivers and people in the travel and transport industry, shops and restaurants, liquor shop employees, and workers in offices and factories – who have not been vaccinated with at minimum one dose – starting November 25.
Collector Sunil Chavan stated that anyone found violating the orders will be dealt with according to the provisions of 2005’s Disaster Management Act.

This was in accordance with the orders issued late Monday night.

The crackdown began with the impounding and banning of tour and travel agents from selling tickets to people who aren’t vaccinated.

A district statement stated that if an autorickshaw driver is found not having received the first dose of vaccine, authorities will confiscate the vehicle and impose a penalty.

The latest orders were issued shortly after the district authorities ordered that petrol pumps not sell petrol-diesel or petrol to anyone who has not been inoculated with the Covid-19 vaccine.

Because so many people use this mode, the risk of the infection spreading is higher for the passenger vehicle operators and autorickshaw drivers.”Autorickshaw drivers are asked to take at minimum the first dose of Covid-19.The statement stated that the autorickshaw would be confiscated and a penalty imposed if it is not taken by the Regional Transport Officer during the checks.

The Deputy Labour Commissioner, Deputy FDA Commissioner, and the Deputy Labor Commissioner will also inspect the vaccination jab certificates for labourers, shops and restaurants.

Those establishments found to be in violation shall be sealed and punished, while liquor shops with non-vaccinated workers will be punished by State Excise Department.

Aurangabad district is 26th out of 36 in Maharashtra in terms total vaccination.Official data shows that only 64.36 percent of eligible population have had their first jabs, and 27.78% are fully vaccinated.

The district had previously ordered fair price shops and gas companies, as well as petrol stations, to verify the vaccination certificates of customers.

They also barred entry to historic monuments and tourist sites.
